This apprenticeship program was designed by Newark
Riverfront Revival & Cobblestone Multimedia in partnership with Ironbound Community Corporation, County of Essex, New Jersey, City of Newark, The Trust for Public Land, Hackensack Riverkeeper, National Endowment for the Arts, Newark Works Summer Youth Employment Program, Newark Office of Film & Television, NWK TV78, Panasonic, Seidler Chemical, The Waterfront, Actor Pat Byas, and Ironbound Film Studios to expose, educate, and prepare Newark youth with marketable career skills through on the job hands-on projects. We introduced the
students to the television, video, film, and music production industries.
Students had the opportunity to participate at professional television, film, and recording studios located at The Waterfront (sports, arts, and entertainment center), 2 Grafton Avenue, Newark, NJ 07104, NWK TV78, 1020 Broad Street, Newark, NJ 07102, and Ironbound Film Studio, 64 Delancy Street, Newark, NJ 07105
(www.ironboundfilmstudios.com) alongside industry professionals and emerging new artists.
Newark Works summer employment youth ages 14-21 were interviewed for initial
program interest to help identify their perceived goals and objectives. Through the course
of the program, the apprentice experienced the numerous functions within a professional recording and film studio, including: individual and group performances, music and video production, writing and final product marketing & promotions.
